Police appeal for information on sophisticated fraudster couple

JOBURG - Help police find the two suspects who allegedly defrauded a number of people among other crimes.

Gauteng police are appealing to members of the public to assist with information that can lead to the arrest or the whereabouts of the suspects on the pictures.

According to the Police Spokesperson Captain Kabelo Marumo, the suspects are sought in connection of an alleged fraud syndicate involving large sums of money, conspiracy to murder, pointing of firearm, contravention of a court order, theft and contempt of court.

The two suspects, aged 24 and 26, are faced with 15 cases including nine of fraud. It is alleged that the two operate under different modus operandi to defraud their victims.

“In some cases, the suspects will place a false online advertisement on prominent internet sites selling or renting out properties and when the money is deposited into their account, the two will withdraw it and disappear without giving services promised to the victim,” explained Capt Marumo.

The suspects are also alleged to have used false identification documents and false Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) method to defraud their victims of thousands of rand. The suspects have been on the run since 2013, including travelling from neighbouring African countries.
