Two Cooper’s tackle Nine Peaks

RANDBURG – The Cooper's will follow a simplistic lifestyle during their Nine Peaks tour.

A farm attack in 2014 postponed Colin and Bianca Cooper’s dreams to cycle around South Africa’s nine provinces and conquer nine of the highest peaks in the country on their bicycles.

Bianca explained that the tour is back on and they started their journey on 15 March.

She said “Following the attack, my dad got back on the bike on 10 October and on 11 November he rode his first 100km.”

According to Bianca, the Nine Peaks Tour that they are undertaking is about raising awareness and funds for Qhubeka which is a non-profit organisation.

“We are aiming to do an epic trip through South Africa, cycling on Qhubeka Buffalo bicycles through all of SA’s stunning provinces, and climbing the highest mountain or peak in each province. The bicycles are steel frame, fully rigid, single-speed, pedal back brake beasts of burden, built to endure Africa’s harsh roads.”

She explained that simplicity is key – from the bikes to their lifestyle during the trip. “Basic food and water will sustain us and no energy drinks will be consumed and we will be camping for the duration of the trip.”

“People who wish to follow our trip can like it by clicking on the following link on this page they will be able to see where we are and what we are up to,” concluded Cooper.
