Public Service and Administration Minister, Collins Chabane was killed in an accident on the N1 at around 1am this morning.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation by police, but it was alleged that Chabane’s vehicle collided with a truck while it was busy making a u-turn on the N1 between Gauteng and Limpopo.
Spokesperson for the Presidency, Mac Maharaj expressed his sadness and explained that the death of Chabane is a big shock to the country as he took the lead with planning former President Nelson Mandela’s funeral.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by his untimely death. He was an outstanding cadre of our liberation struggle and a competent accomplished and dependable member of Cabinet,” concluded Maharaj.
