Taxi allegedly causes accident

RANDBURG – Seven people transported to Helen Joseph Hospital following a taxi accident on 11 March.

At about 8.15 am on 11 March a taxi allegedly skipped a red robot and caused a huge accident at the intersection of Hans Schoeman and Rabie streets.

Joburg EMS workers on scene explained that the taxi was full of passengers when it caused the accident.

According to Eric Nicholas from Vital Med Ambulance Services the passengers in the taxi sustained moderate injuries.

“Seven people have been transported to the Helen Joseph Hospital with moderate injuries.”

He added that no other injuries were reported.

The taxi wreck has been moved closer to the pavement by firemen from Joburg EMS out of the way of traffic and all three of the other vehicles have been towed away by various tow-truck companies.

Joburg Metro Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar explained that the cause of the accident has not been established but mentioned that a further investigation into the accident has been opened.
