Hip-hop artist and member of Skwatta Kamp Nkululeko Habedi, better known as Flabba, died in the early hours of 9 March.
Flabba was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend.
Friends and fans of Flabba took to social media to express their shock and grief, in what appears to be a lover’s quarrel.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said a case of murder has been opened at the Alexandra Police Station.
“It is alleged that police were called on the scene and, when they arrived, the suspect was still on the scene. She has been arrested.”
Habedi was one of the seven members of Skwatta Kamp, which ruled the airwaves and hip-hop scene in the early 2000s. When the group disbanded in 2009, he went on to record his solo album.
Details of his memorial service and funeral are yet to be released.
