Hyde Park High tennis star shines

HYDE PARK – Chao-Hong Peng makes the Central Gauteng tennis team.

A Grade 9 pupil at Hyde Park High, Chao-Hong Peng, has been selected for the U15 team for Boys Tennis Central Gauteng and has received his provincial colours. Peng is a talented tennis player and is in the first team at school. He was born in South Africa and is a resident of Blairgowrie.

Peng commented, ”I started tennis when I was eight years old and became interested when my coach at the Randburg Tennis Club indicated that I had potential.” In addition to Peng being an active member of the school’s tennis team, he is also still member of the club and began competing in club tournaments and junior leagues around the country from the age of 12. He enjoys the competitive aspect of club tennis that exposes him to strong players, which motivates him to practice harder.

Peng’s talent runs deeper – he is also a member of his school’s table tennis team and is a natural at racquet sport. He enjoys a good game of chess when relaxing.

Headmaster of Hyde Park High School Manolis Vogiatzis, said Peng is an extremely motivated pupil and a high academic achiever and was placed first at the end of the 2014 academic year. Peng is currently ranked 45th in the U14 Gauteng Boys category.
