Douglasdale Saps under fire again

DOUGLASDALE – Restaurant manager claims Douglasdale Police Station was not helpful when he needed their service.

Douglasdale SAPS is allegedly accused of refusing to perform their duties.

According to media reports, a manager of a restaurant alerted Douglasale Police when patrons refused to settle their bill of R175.

It is alleged that two uniformed police officers, who arrived at the restaurant, apparently refused to open a case or take witness statements and they said “it was too much work.”

The one officer gave his name as Officer Teffu, who is a reservist in the force.

The other officer allegedly refused to give the owner any details pertaining to his badge number or name.

The restaurant manager then went to the Douglasdale Police Station, asking to know the names of the officers in order to lay charges of refusing to open a case of fraud/theft as well as not identifying themselves and refusing to do so.

According to Douglasdale SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, “We won’t know what happened until we are able the view the CCTV footage that the complainant alleges that he has.”

WO Muthan claims that it is a restaurant in Cedar Square.

He further added, “The individual approached the station and the captain in a relatively aggressive manner. The captain was merely explaining that a case can only be opened at the CSC (Client Service Centre). ”

According to WO Muthan, “A case has been opened to investigate the alleged manner in which the police officers may have behaved at the time of going to his establishment.”

The restaurant could not to be reached.
