BREAKING NEWS: Tensions flare as alleged drug dealer found dead
NORTHGATE - An alleged drug dealer has been found dead outside one of the entrances to Northgate shopping centre.
It is uncertain at this stage to the cause of death of an alleged drug dealer outside of Entrance 3 at Northgate shopping centre.
Conflicting reports allege that the man was stopped by Metro police when they stopped a suspicious looking vehicle earlier in the evening.
It is also alleged that drugs where found inside the car.
Unconfirmed reports say that the man escaped and ran into the shopping centre where he died after swallowing some of the drugs that he had on him.
Cause of death is uncertain at this stage and will only be determined once an autopsy has being conducted.
Tensions got high when family members of the deceased in their hundreds accused the Metro police of suffocating the man after he refused to pay a bribe (unconfirmed). JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar commented, ”it is alleged that he swallowed the drugs which he had on him. The incident will be investigated to establish exactly what happened.” He further added, ”The drugs were found in his car, he jumped out of the car and ran inside the mall.”
The uncle of the deceased Andy Emmanuel said, ”he is 39 and was turning 40 soon, he has a wife and small child. We will not stand for this.”
ER24 commented that they were alerted to the scene at 7.16pm on arrival government paramedics had already declared him dead.
