Woman of extraordinary influence

FERNDALE – Local woman is nominated for top award.

Linda Blackbeard has been nominated for the 2015 Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Awards.

Blackbeard is the manager of the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is based in Ferndale.

She is known to champion small local businesses and entrepreneurs.

“This is overwhelming and something I never even thought about,” she Blackheard.

“Helping others, strengthening others and enabling others to grow and flourish is easy for me.”

The awards are organised by CEO Communications. After 27 March, nominations will be evaluated, and the winners for the different countries will be announced on 22 July.

Later in the year, the winner for Africa will be revealed.

Last year about 1 200 nominations were submitted in South Africa.

“We wish to congratulate Linda [Blackbeard] for her recognition and wish her all the best in her endeavours,” said South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci) Deputy President Vusi Khumalo.

“Surely, the Randburg chamber will be proud of her and it will also give pride to Sacci when individuals in our member chambers get recognition.” RCCI member Craig Shelley said that the news is “fantastic”.

“She is a phenomenal woman,” he said. “She is understaffed but does a good job. She is extremely influential.”
