WATCH: The Diggers Warcry

MALANSHOF – Watch a video of Diggers juniors singing their warcry.

The Diggers Warcry has changed over the years since the Diggers Rugby Club started in 1893.

Diggers Junior Rugby Chairperson Sibonginkosi Moyo explains that today the only remaining excerpt from the original version is “Dig Dig Diggers”, which players chant three times.

The current version is as follows:

“My mama told me, to buy a jersey, a rugby jersey, to play for Diggers.

My mama told me, to buy a jersey.

We are the Diggers boys.

We play rugby anywhere in Africa, anywhere in Africa, anywhere in Africa, we play rugby anywhere in Africa.

We are the Diggers boys.

Dig Dig Diggers, Dig Dig Diggers, Dig Dig Diggers.”

The rugby club is based at the Randburg Sports Complex, Malanshof.
