City Power awaits petition
SUNDOWNER – City Power will not install street lights in Meteor Road until it receives a petition.
City Power has said that it will not install street lights on Meteor Road, Sundowner, until it receives a petition from residents and investigates the matter.
“We cannot guarantee that lights will be installed,” said the entity’s spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele on 26 February.
This after a number of municipal problems were highlighted in the street, and residents started to form a petition to the City of Johannesburg for these issues to be attended to.
Mphahlele continued, “As soon as it [the petition] is received with the reference number from the Office of the Speaker, City Power will do the necessary assessment of the query and attend to it in accordance with the requirements pertaining to it.”
Resident Nola Slater responded that she will continue acquiring signatures for the petition, and hopes to submit it soon.
She and other residents previously stated that having no street lights in the road makeS it unsafe for pedestrians.
