Probability of load shedding high

ROODEPOORT — Resident will be returning home to no electricity on 23 February.

Power utility Eskom issued a warning of the probability of power cuts via twitter on 23 February.

“The risk of black outs is medium to high and would most likely start in the afternoon,” said Khulu Phasiwe from the Media desk.

Phasiwe was unable to say which stage of load shedding would be implemented during the blackout  but added that depended on how much demand Eskom’s power plants can meet.

Customers are being urged to assist by using electricity sparingly “we do hope to avoid load shedding and we urge our customers to bear with us. If load shedding is implemented, it will most likely be in the afternoon as people head home,” Phasiwe continued.

Eskom is currently experiencing its maintenance season, the power grid is expected to remain constrained in the meantime.
