Donations needed for Dacey family

NORTHWOLD – Pay it Forward tries to pay it forward to the family that lost their house in a fire on Valentine ’s Day.

Community and charity organisations have come together to help the Dacey family after their home was destroyed by fire on 14 February, in Northwold.

The family luckily managed to escape the blaze safely.

One such organisation, is the Pay it Forward South Africa, which saw the story about the fire on Facebook.

Gregory Wells-Clifton of Pay it Forward said, ”I saw the post about the fire on facebook. I then went through to see the couple and they informed me that they have already been helped tremendously by the community. I told them should they require anything else further, to please contact me.”

He said his organisation began out of a need that existed in the society.

More and more people across the world are finding themselves in these difficult situations.

“Often through no fault of their own, where basic foodstuff provision for their families is becoming a major challenge.”

He said they believe that, if one someone has paid it forward to you, you then have to pay it forward to someone else.

According to Friends of Golden Harvest Park committee member Pippa Wepener, “Although they [Dacey family] have nothing left, they are sleeping in their caravan so there’s no space to store anything. What we thought we would do is start up a disaster fund. Anyone wanting to donate anything, clothing, bedding and furniture could do so and we will store it until they decide if they can afford to rent somewhere. ”

A bank account will also be opened.

She added that items that are not used by the family can be donated to others in the same predicament.

Elriva Dacey said, ”We are really thankful for everyone who has helped us and how the community has been so great to us.”
