JRA responds to Meteor Road mayhem

SUNDOWNER – Johannesburg Roads Agency stencils road name onto kerb.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency  has responded to the complaint about Meteor Road, in Sundowner, not having a street sign, by stencilling the road name on two kerbs.

Residents recently complained () to the City of Johannesburg about the road not having a street sign, not having any street lights, litter accumulating next to the road, and grass growing too tall next to the road.

“JRA was unaware of the missing street sign and thanks the community for bringing the issue to our attention,” said the agency’s spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers. “We are pleased to report that the matter has been resolved as last week the street name was stencilled onto the kerb.”

The resident who initially complained, Nola Slater, commented that she is “really chuffed” with the stencilling of the kerb.

“However, I believe that a road sign on a pole would be the best,” she added.

“I am so impressed with Johannesburg Roads Agency, they appear to be on the ball, and they are the only ones who came back to me and who have actually done something positive, and speedily too.”

Peters-Scheepers added that residents are “welcome to raise any of the other road-related concerns with us for attention.”

Comment is still awaited from Ward 114 councillor Maureen Schneemann, as well as the spokespeople for Metro Police, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and City Power.
