KELLAND – Damelin Randburg holds annual principal's breakfast

The annual principals breakfast was held on 10 February at Benvenuto Conference Centre, Kelland.

The event is used to showcase Damelin and to network with those in the education sphere.

General Manager for Damelin Randburg, David Naidoo said,” We also use this opportunity to give away bursaries and prizes to disadvantaged schools.We are very pleased at the fantastic turnout of principals from a variety of schools in the area.”

Damelin is accredited with the Department of Education.

The Damelin Randburg Campus is the only campus to offer 13 diplomas and three BCom courses and one higher certificate.

At the breakfast prizes were given away to different schools in attendance.

Two bursaries to the value of R40 000 were won by Thuto- Leefa School and Leap Science and Maths School to be used in 2016.

To add to this, the 35 other school principals received R10 000 to be given to a pupil of their choice toward a bursary in 2015.

Other prizes included Sharp calculators and a microwave.

The winner of the microwave was Fidelators School.

Group head of communication for Educor Jessie Naidoo highlighted the importance of working with Damelin and Seartec to get the education landscape to transition into the digital era.

Naidoo added that Seartec is bringing technology into the education sphere for the future.

”Chief Executive Officer of Seartec Mark McChlery remarked, “I think it is an invaluable exercise to open the lines of communication between the secondary and tertiary education sectors. Damelin’s initiative demonstrates a determined approach to enhancing the quality, relevance and consistency of higher education in South Africa.”

Naidoo further added that 17 roadshows will be held across the country to showcase the range of higher education courses.

”Damelin must not be seen as an alternative but rather as an option to those looking to study further,” Naidoo emphasised.

Master of Ceremony Jack Devnarian commented, “I believe the work that Damelin is doing is really important; we have a need to turn out skilled qualified students at tertiary level .
