Politicians must take a stand

Xenophobia, a poem written by Dave 'forever' Young

Please remember, don’t forget xenophobia is a form of service protest it’s a question of where one wants to reside and whether the grass is

greener on the other side!

There are many factors which come to mind when one goes to live and work with a different kind!

Language, clothing, available accommodation, weather changes, suitable jobs or another situation.

Staying with family or friends may be an option, but that is never a permanent solution.

While Human Rights dictate a country should have an open border, most countries have to subscribe to law and order.

There are millions of South Africans unemployed, they cannot leave our cabinet overjoyed!

Charity begins at home.

We have to look after our own.

Authorities must remember no plants until the seed is sown.

Human Rights and resources are all very well, but our countrymen come first, with a tale to tell.

The damage is done and we live with the consequences.

Nigerian drug dealers who receive light sentences.

Ethiopian hijackers who feed spaza shops, they bribe all and sundry, including the cops!

They lure customers by offering ridiculously low prices that in turn causes a looting and robbery crisis!

Schoolchildren, hooligans and gangs form a frenzied mob, to loot and plunder, to steal and rob.

They leave foreign shop owners with empty and damaged shelves, unable to do anything to defend themselves!

People are crushed to death in the rush, some rogue policemen even join in the fuss!

Is this a society with human dignity and rights?

Are our lives nothing but struggles and fights?

Are our politicians too frightened to take a stand, are they too afraid to pass laws to guard our land?

Or are they too busy feathering their own nest?

While victims of xenophobia are laid to rest!

God helps those who help themselves, but not to the extent of emptying shelves!

He wants us to love one another, even foreign sisters and brothers!!!
