Wings of Hope support cancer patients

OLIVEDALE – Cancer survivors discuss cancer with staff and patients.

Wings of Hope visited Netcare Olivedale Hospital on World Cancer Day, 4 February.

The team comprised mainly of breast cancer survivors, often reaches out to support others who have been diagnosed with cancer.

They do hospital visitations.

Colleen Greeff, Jenny Aspinall, Stella Pikes, Marlena Stattler, and Jenny Murdoch spent time with patients and staff, discussing various aspects of cancer.

They focused on the importance of early detection and annual check-ups.

“The theme for World Cancer Day 2015 is ‘Not beyond us’, which takes a proactive approach to the battle against cancer,” said the executive of oncology at Netcare, Noeleen Phillipson.

“This theme emphasises existing solutions within our reach that impact positively on the global cancer burden.”
