1in1out’s charity drives for this year

MALANSHOF – Children to receive toys, disadvantaged to receive blankets.

Not-for-gain company 1in1out has revealed its charity work that it will do this year.

The company based in Malanshof will organise a monthly outreach, providing clothing, food and groceries to people in Zandspruit, said its CEO Stephen Thomas.

The company is currently busy with its Gift For Life school drive, which collects stationery, bags and books for school children in Zandspruit, Kya Sand and Cosmo City.

“From March to June we will do the winter drive,” Thomas said. “Blankets and winter woollies will go to Zandspruit, sometimes somewhere else if there is a bigger need.”

At the end of the year the company will host a toy drive, collecting toys for children in Zandspruit and Kya Sand.

Thomas hopes to construct a Breakthrough Centre in Zandspruit, where skills are taught. But he first needs land and funding.

“It is one of the organisations that have done a lot of good for people,” said Gift Mulaisi, pastor of the youth ministry at Rhema Bible Church North, and who often partners with 1in1out.

“For them to go into disadvantaged areas, give food, and spiritual and emotional guidance, it is needed in the community.”

Last year 1in1out provided meals and blankets to people in Zandpruit, organised a mass clean-up on Mandela Day, and facilitated the handing over of donations to victims of the fire in Kya Sand.
