Trinityhouse holds a bell-ringing ceremony

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse welcomes their Grade 1s with a bell-ringing ceremony.

Grade 1 pupils of Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge, got their official welcome on 23 January with their parents and some grandparents in attendance.

This was a special occasion for the pupils and their parents as it marked the start of a kid’s official schooling career.

Although most parents seemed excited there was also a little bit of a sombre mood as the realisation of their kids growing up began to sink in.

The ceremony started with a prayer then the headmaster of Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge, Hilton Scott, addressed the Grade 1s and all in attendance. “The significance of the bell-ringing ceremony, symbolises the new phase in their lives (Grade 1s). It is for them to say I am here now, “said Scott.

An atmosphere of excitement filled the room as pupils stepped onto the stage to ring the bell and collect their certificate.

Deputy principal for the foundation phase Tracey Venter commented, “When I see those little faces on stage I get all teary-eyed, it really is a special occasion.”

One of the mothers in attendance, Nicci van Vuuren remarked, “I am very happy with the school and happy with the values that are learned here. Today it is bitter sweet, my son is growing up (Leo) and I don’t want him to.”

Another mom Dorandi Smit, who sat front seat, expressed that today was a very emotional but amazing day and that it was exciting because her daughter loves going to school.

The ceremony concluded with the school song.
