The City of Johannesburg’s Revenue Shared Services Centre systems are up and down

RANDBURG – Clients are being asked to come back the next day in the hope that systems will be online

Residents have been complaining to Ward 102 Councillor David Potter about systems being offline on most days since November last year – the City of Johannesburg’s Revenue Shared Services Centre, in Randburg.

According to Potter, “The network connection to Randburg has been affected as a result of the City’s termination of the B-Wired contract that supplies fibre connections to City buildings across the City.”

Potter says the Revenue and Customer Relations are now having to rely on other methods of network connectivity.

A source that wishes to remain anonymous confirmed that the Revenue and Customer Relations Centre had been having some technical problems.

City of Johannesburg spokesperson of the Revenue group, Finance Department, Stanley Maphologela was contacted to find out what exactly has been going on.

Maphologela responded, “The City of Johannesburg’s Revenue Shared Services Centre has been experiencing technical system issues. We are aware that the system is slow and wish to advise our customers that our IT technicians are attending to the problem and are doing everything possible to resolve the problem. However, the system has been fully functioning yesterday and today ( 20 and 21 January. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”

A visit to the Randburg City of Johannesburg’s Revenue Shared Services Centre on 20 January confirmed that the systems were online and functioning on that day.
