Entertainment and safety packed into one show

BLAIRGOWRIE – ADT holds a children’s security educational show.

Mini Minds Preschool was visited by Mr ADT, Darin McDowall on 20 January.

The Baddies and Buddies show focused on:

· Bullying

· Home robberies

· Keeping personal belongings safe

· Paying attention to surroundings

· How to get help from police by pressing panic buttons

· Stranger danger and

· Respecting one another.

He addressed the following personal safety tips:

· Not putting pills or anything in children’s mouths without asking their parents first

· Dangers in the kitchen

· Electricity safety – not touching or pulling plugs

· Not playing with fire, matches, lighters or candles

· The danger of playing with guns and

· How to behave around dogs.

Mr ADT used an array of tricks to keep the little ones entertained, while still educating them.

Kids ranged from one to six years of age.

He did a puppet show along with some balloon making and made the show an interactive one for the kids.

The puppet – Perry the tortoise – taught the kids how to deal with bullying and that it is okay to tell the teacher.

“This whole show is part of ADT’s social responsibility, it teaches the kids about basic safety,” commented McDowall.

Lynne Sampson, Mini Minds principal said, “All children are faced with potential threats, and it is nice for someone to come and explain it to them in such an awesome way.”

All shows are free of charge at schools.
