RANDBURG – Randburg Home Affairs parking lot is full of potholes.

The public have taken to Twitter to express their disgust at the parking situation at the Randburg Home Affairs on Malibongwe Drive.

The manager of the Randburg Home Affairs branch, Herman Lekalalcala, was contacted to find out what exactly is being done.

“From our side we have complained about the state of the road in the parking lot, a lot of our clients complain about the road, so we have taken it up with the City of Johannesburg, we want the potholes to be fixed,” said Lekalalcala.

According to Lekalalcala, The City of Joburg Property Company had been contracted to fix the potholes.”They came here last year in November to have a meeting and to take a look at the parking lot,” added Lekalalcala

Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood, said that the problem of the potholes has been a problem for the last four years, the grass is overgrown and there is rubbish dumped at the side of the entrance gates to the parking lot – this is all owned by City of Johannesburg.Ward Councillor 102 David Potter and Wood visited Home Affairs on 19 January to see the deteriorating condition of the parking lot.

Randburg Sun journalist visited Home Affairs on 19 January to get the public’s opinion on the state of the parking lot.

Kerrianne Cronjé said, “The parking is just horribly shocking.”

Peter Guma said, “Shocking, absolutely appalling, how do we come here? They say this is a world-class country, when it is becoming one of the worst in Africa.

Marion Webber added, “This is disgraceful, we pay a lot for taxes, there is a lack of direction from those in charge.”

Mignonine Clay commented that “It feels unsafe coming here, there is rubbish dumped here, grass is overgrown, the City needs to keep their own roads tidy.”

One of the concerned motorists spoke to Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood about the horrible potholes.

The City of Joburg Property Company could not be reached for comment.
