School’s out at Rand Park Primary

RANDPARK RIDGE – School’s out and eager Grade 1 pupils reunite with their parents at Rand Park Primary school.

Most schools in Gauteng opened on 14 January and there was some excitement among Grade 1s who were starting their first day at Rand Park Primary School.

Parents lined up across the lawn adjacent to the Grade 1 classrooms waiting for their little ones to return after a long first day.

Principal Nic Pienaar said, ”Today went well, with 140 brand new Grade 1s, the day went as well as can be expected. We will strive to maintain a sound education. Everything is in working order at the school. We therefore wish all of our new pupils at Rand Park Primary a good 2015.”

Mother Sara Vita-Jansen says, ”I was so relieved that this morning went so well. Caleb was a little scared this morning, but as soon as we got to class he was happy. It was sure bliss.”

Another parent laughed at her son’s insistence that she leave immediately after he sat down at his desk.

Grade 1 teacher Tracey Smerdon shared her views of the first day, ”The first day was challenging but exciting. They all settled in shortly and had a great day.”
