Three suspects were arrested on 9 January in Diepsloot, for armed robbery of a cellphone and will appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Courts this week.
The suspects, allegedly threatened a victim with a knife and a handgun in order to get his cellphone.
The robbers apparently followed the victim from Extension 2, where they isolated him in an enclosed area.
The victim then ran to the nearest police station where they followed suit.
Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela, spokesperson for the station commander of Diepsloot SAPS commented, ”The police alighted from their
patrol van and chased until they caught the three suspects. A toy gun and knife were seized. The victim’s cellphone was recovered.”
The three suspects will remain in custody until they appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court this week.
