Roads Agency off to a good start

HONEYDEW – Busy intersection receives a much-needed upgrade.

The intersection that links Christiaan de Wet Road and Dolfyn Street has finally received a slight upgrade by the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA).

Numerous accidents have occurred at the intersection in 2014 because of faulty traffic lights.

The agency decided to do something to make the intersection a bit safer and thus they made the decision to repaint the intersection lines on both of the roads on 5 January.

“We are currently busy with a infrastructure upgrade for 2015,” said JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers. “So we are planning to look at issues on various roads in the Roodepoort area.”

She added that the entity’s traffic engineer has indicated that they cannot proceed with the commissioning of street lights in the absence of road markings due to safety reasons, but that they now have green light to go ahead and upgrade the traffic lights.

Vital Med Emergency Services was surprised to hear about the upgrade and congratulated JRA on taking initiative to make the intersection safer for 2015.
