Ferndale High gets 91.7 per cent

KENSINGTON B – School has 91.7 per cent pass rate, but seven pupils have incomplete results.

Anxiety turned to joy for most matric pupils at Ferndale High, after they received their results at the school in Kensington B on 6 January.

According to the school principal Bahiya Manuel, there were 119 matric pupils last year and 91.7 per cent of the pupils passed, 8.3 per cent failed, and there were 11 subject distinctions.

Manuel also explained that seven pupils received incomplete results because of an error in the calculation of their Computer Applications Technology (Cat) marks.

These pupils will have to wait about one week for the calculation of their final marks.

He said 91.7 per cent pass rate is a drop of around two per cent from the preceding year.

“One is never happy if the pass rate is not 100 per cent,” Manuel said.

“But you have children of different abilities and pupils can make a success after the initial shock.”
