During the late hours of 8 December two separate houses at the Silver Stream Senior Park were robbed.

Three male suspects entered the village just before 10pm at the rear wall.
The robbers cut through vertical fencing, broke a palisade fence, pulled off the razor wire and then preceded through the electric fence.
They first gained entry to the first chalet on the opposite side of the property.
The door to the chalet was open because the woman had let her small dog out before she turned in for bed.
The three armed suspects demanded all of her valuables. The resident calmly allowed them to search through her entire chalet, where they proceeded to rummage through all of her belongings. While they searched her home, she pressed her panic button.
Upon their exit, the three robbers then went to a cottage near their entry point. Here the cottage glass door was open, however, the metal slam-lock door was locked. The men forced open the door by prying the door apart. The elderly woman was asleep in her bed and awoke to the three armed burglars.The resident fought back trying to knock the pistol out the robber’s hand, they then pistol-whipped her across her cheek. The robbers fled the scene with cash and jewellery. The resident was treated by her local doctor for a minor wound. Chubb Security and Linden Police responded to the call shortly after the incident.
Linden Police spokesperson Constable Carol Mulamu commented, “One of the residents was assaulted and she later received medical treatment. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction, with cellphones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of money.
Police are investigating the matter and also how the suspects gained entry to the premises. No arrests made yet. ”
Manager of Silver Stream Retirement Village Neil Rae urges residents and relatives to not panic. ”This is a rare incident, we have the best security money can buy, it is unfortunate that it happened during the power outages which made the area pitch black, residents are safe,” said Rae.
Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood reminded residents to secure their houses during power outages. He also added, ”What is important to note is that the two burglaries happened during the power outages. This is of great concern to the council and the residents of the area and will be brought up as a matter of urgency at the next meeting.”
