Axe man to wait until February

KENSINGTON B – Motorist who allegedly struck a man at least three times with an axe must wait for investigation.

A man who allegedly struck another motorist at least three times with an axe appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 11 December.

He is facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and malicious damage to property, for his actions during a road rage incident on 8 November.

The incident began on Malibongwe Drive in Randburg, and ended on the N1 Highway just before the Beyers Naudé Drive onramp.

The case was postponed to 20 February next year, the court in Kensington B heard, for the State to investigate further.

The man and his legal representative refused to speak to the media.

The other motorist, who is a Cosmo City resident, was allegedly struck with the axe twice on the head and once on his arm.

Two Netcare 911 paramedics who attended the scene were suspended by their company for allegedly assisting the white motorist and not the injured black motorist (see previous article).
