Const Maluleke joined the police force in 2008 and after successfully completing his basic training in Cape Town, he was placed at Randburg Police Station.

He was deployed as sector member for the past year where he excelled in making arrests.

On 13 October he was appointed as sector manager due to his commitment, dedication and excellent relationship with the community.

He was shot the day after, while on his way to meet stakeholders in Sector 3.

“With the grace of God and many prayers of colleagues and the community, he miraculously survived,” WO Maja says.

Const Maluleke will be assisted by Constable Sibongiseni Zungu in the sector until he has fully recovered from his last-standing injury, which Maja says is a cut on his back.

“The management of Randburg Police as well Maluleke and his family would like to thank all those who have been with us during the difficult times,” WO Maja adds.

Randburg Police Station Commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo said on 4 December that she thanks God that Const Maluleke is making a good recovery. Constables Maluleke and Zungu can be contacted on 079 886 3855.

A security guard was also shot during the incident in October, and the Provincial Police Office issued a statement that police were on a manhunt for the unknown number of suspects (see previous article(.
