Randburg Police boot up their systems

KENSINGTON B – Randburg Police boost its technology systems with six computers and free training for police.

The Randburg Police Station launched its new computer training room on 28 November.

Top officials at the station in Kensington B, its Community Policing Forum, and sponsors met for the unveiling.

The room currently holds four computers, but two more are on the way.

CTU Training Solutions, NextGen, Standard Bank and Microsoft provided the computers, programs and furniture free of charge.

CTU Training Solutions will use the room to teach police staff everything from basic computer literacy to advanced programs, which will help them in their day-to-day work. Staff can also use the room to train by themselves in their own time.

Previously, staff would visit other institutions for computer training.

“From the bottom of my heart I thank all of you,” said the station’s commander, Brigadier lettie Hugo.

“We always try improve service delivery for the public, and make sure our staff have the skills to do so.” Former Sector 5 Community Policing Forum chairperson Tom Bouwer was instrumental in organising the sponsorship. He said that the training room would improve the staff’s performance, and in so doing, their attitude. Randburg Sector 2 Community Policing Forum Committee Member Derek Lake said that he is “absolutely delighted” with the room.
