Colourful shades of Indian culture

FOURWAYS – Diverse Indian heritage took centre stage at Montecasino, where everything that relates to their culture was promoted on 28 to 30 November.

The Shades of India Festival held various activities that were aimed at promoting the Indian heritage from 28 to 30 November at Montecasino.

The festival kicked-off with a celebratory gala dinner, which was followed by a fashion show at La Toscana, in Montecasino on 27 November.

At the gala, the Indian Consul-General Rashhir Jaiswal, acknowledged the colourful history of the Indian culture and how they “add to the South African rainbow nation.”

At the Fifty Shades of East fashion show, different fashion designers displayed their best pieces, including Dream Queen, Zyda Creations, Zuri Couture,Yashi D,Leelas and Paaneri.

Different exhibitors displayed their products which included spices, saris,henna, sammoosas, furniture, expensive cars and entertainment galore.

Deena Naidoo, winner of Masterchef South Africa 2012, gave a few cooking tips to the audiences.
