No power this weekend

JOHANNESBURG – Residents will be affected by load shedding this weekend says City Power.

City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo said load shedding will continue this weekend of 29 and 30 November.

“Eskom has issued an alert to City Power indicating that they will be load shedding parts of the city on rotational bases. This load shedding will not only affect the City of Johannesburg but the country as a whole … on a rotational basis.”

Masolo said the entity will have to apply load shedding to some of the suburbs in and around Johannesburg.

“We will continue updating our customers on areas that are experiencing load shedding as well as the duration of each load shedding on the City Power website. Our twitter (@CityPowerJhb) account will also be updated during the weekend.”

According to the City Power schedule Roodepoort North and all of the surrounding suburbs will be without power on 29 November from 10 am till 2 pm and they will be without power on 30 November from 2 am till 6:30 am and later from 10 am until 2 pm.

“Residents in the Randburg area will be without power on 29 November from 6 am to 10 am and 10 pm to 2:30 am. On 30 November they will be without power from 6 am to 10:30 am and from 10pm to 2:30 am.”

Northcliff residents will be a bit luckier with only one power-cut on 29 and 30 November from 6 am to 10:30 am on both days.

“We urge customers to use their electricity wisely over the weekend,” said Masolo.
