Randburg Police rewarded for hard work

KENSINGTON B – Randburg Police give certificates to staff of the month in different departments.

Randburg Police presented certificates to its staff during an informal ceremony at the station, Kensington B, on 21 November.

The certificates went to officers and staff in the support, detectives and visible policing departments who were chosen by their superiors as the staff of the month from April to October.

The station also said goodbye to former Sector 3 Manager, and former Warrant Officer, James Swann, who served the station for 21 years and was leaving for the private security sector.

“Everyone is working hard, even though not everyone received a certificate,” said Randburg Police Station Commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo.

“We have managed to stabilise crime, but there is still a problem with theft out of motor vehicles and robberies at traffic lights.”

She thanked the Community Policing Forum, led by Sandy Andrew, the reservists and other groups at the station for making the police’s work easier.

Andrew responded that she was proud of the police, having heard reports of how quickly they responded to incidents.

Hugo then said goodbye to Swann, who she said had managed many projects to curb crime in his sector, and “done a lot for the community”.

“I have been part of the family here for 21 years,” Swann said. “The police will always be a big part of me. Thank you for what you have done for me.”
