Police officer injured as van flips

STRIJDOM PARK - A case of reckless and negligent driving to be opened.

STRIJDOM PARK – A honeydew Police officer was injured when the police van she was travelling in flipped during an accident on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Rocky Street, strijdom park, on 24 November. Randburg Police, Cosmo City police and Johannesburg Emergency Management Services were on scene.

They said that an eye-witness told them the police van was driving up Rocky Street towards Ferndale at 2pm when a silver Volkswagen Polo went through a red traffic light, turning in front of the van. The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to Netcare Olivedale Hospital for treatment.

A case of reckless and negligent driving will soon be opened at Randburg Police station, said the station’s commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo, who was on scene. The Polo had a K53 Learner’s sticker on the back.The injured Honeydew Police officer was taken to Netcare Olivedale hospital for treatment.
