Cooper College pupils support Cotlands

NORTHRIDING - Cooper College launches schools competition in support of Cotlands.

Over 500 pupils from Cooper College have undertaken to support Cotlands by entering an essay competition.

The essay competition requires each entrant to donate R10 to Cotlands.

The essays will be judged by teachers and a winner will be announced on 24 November and prize-giving is on 29 November.

The Grade 5 and 6 entrants will be required to pen their thoughts on the topic Why should you support a charity like Cotlands?

In preparation, 16 pupils from Copper College visited Cotlands on 29 October.

The pupils witnessed first-hand the harsh reality many children in South Africa face every day and also experienced the difference Cotlands is making through its early-learning playgroups.

Funds raised from the competition will go toward the Cotlands early-learning programme.

Early-learning playgroups is an innovative non-centre-based model that provides vulnerable children with a range of activities that promote cognitive, emotional, social and physical development.

Children in this programme also receive a nutritious snack and warm meal as well as the services of a nurse and social worker.

Cotlands is thankful to Cooper College for their commitment to the early-learning playgroup programme and to their dedication to spreading quality education to all children in South Africa.
