Having just returned from what was supposed to have been a leisurely walk in the park with the dogs, I feel I have to share this experience with others.

We are two ladies, both over 60.

After having finished our walk at about 10.20 am we sat down on a bench to relax.

Suddenly, out of the blue, two young black males were there, demanding our cellphones and watches, which we refused to give them. They picked up bricks and threw them at the dogs and at us.

One of them tried to get hold of me while the other went after my friend.

I did my best to fend my attacker off with the dog leash while my friend was thankfully being protected by one of her dogs. Unfortunately, she was hit by a big stone on her left elbow and left knee and needed medical attention.

After a while another man came toward us from far away.

When our attackers saw him coming, they both run away.

Reporting the incident at the guard hut, the only reaction from the guard was “EISH”.

Now this is of great help.

Needless to say that there was no security guard to be seen in the whole park.

These criminals live in the park.

One of our attackers was the same man that attacked me in the park three years ago.

I did not bother to report this incident to the police since from past experience I know that nothing is being done anyway.

My friend, however, may report this to the Honeydew Police Station tomorrow.
