People in black raise slave awareness in Randburg

RANDPARK RIDGE - The A21 Campaign walks against modern day slavery and human trafficking at Rhema Church.

The A21 Campaign hosted a walkathon at Rhema Ministries Randburg on 25 October to raise awareness about the Modern Day Slavery.

Tabitha Lage of Hope for Women South Africa geared up the crowd that gathered at the church hall.

Lage and Mandy Murugan of A21 Campaign South Africa spoke to the group of walkers on the prevalence of modern day slavery in South Africa.

This often results in sex slavery to women and men.

The oppressors lure the victims with false promises of amazing work or travel opportunities.

The two women urged the crowd to look out for warning signs of this practice such as, no binding contracts, no landline number, need to travel to take up the opportunity and no experience needed.

Families and friends joined together to walk for this humanitarian cause.

People were seen wearing plaques protesting against modern day slavery.

The streets were crowded with people walking in all black with A21 Campaign t-shirts.
