Power outages again, for the same reason

JOHANNESBURG – Power failures hit suburbs twice in two days.

Power failures again, plague some of Johannesburg northern suburbs due to a substation trip in Roosevelt Park.

Power is currently out in parts of Blackheath, Blairgowrie, Emmarentia, Fairland, Linden, Northcliff, Parkview and Roosevelt Park.

Linden Neighbourhood Watch’s Fareed Hoosen confirmed  that, this is due to the tripping of a substation in Roosevelt Park at 3.14pm.

The same substation tripped yesterday and caused power outages in these suburbs.

City Power spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele could not be immediately contacted for comment but questions were sent to him.

Ward 99 councillor Bruce Herbert said that he does not know why the power outage occurred, and City Power officials are not answering their phones.

He said though, that power is back on in Victory Park and he believes the utility is working on the problem.
