Myths about breast cancer

MILPARK – As breast cancer is the number one cause of death in women with different types of cancers’, numerous myths have come up about the disease. Here, we separate fact from fiction.

You have probably seen and heard a lot about breast cancer during the past few weeks, but as we approach the end of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Louise Turner – breast cancer survivor and project director at the Breast Health Foundation – reckons this is a good time to ask how much of the information you encountered is actually true.

Turner was the guest speaker in Milpark during a University of Johannesburg Resolution Circle initiative.

She educated attendees about how to perform breast cancer exams and shared some light on a few breast cancer myths.
