Suspect arrested with curious objects

BLOUBOSRAND – Knives, crowbar, condoms, sex toy, skull-shaped mask, IDs and bank cards found, among others, on suspect.

A man was arrested in Bloubosrand on 13 October carrying the most interesting items. Sentient Security Services director Mark Eilers explained that at about 5am, Alec Tshuma, supervisor for the security company, was on patrol in the suburb. He noticed a suspicious-looking male wearing a balaclava, walking on Reiger Avenue.

Tshuma called to the suspect to stop, but the man ran away in the direction of Agulhas Road. Tshuma gave chase and apprehended the suspect. After conducting a search, Tshuma allegedly found a .45 Taurus pistol with the serial number filed off, two knives, a crowbar, various identity documents, an assortment of bank cards, condoms, a sex toy, a mask in the form of a skull, scrap metal and stolen tools.

Operations team member Brandon Morgan and director Mark Eilers then arrived. The suspect, and all the objects were handed to Douglasdale Police on scene. “It could potentially lead us to a string of burglaries, because we recovered so many IDs,” Eilers said. “We will trace the firearm and see.”
