Golden Harvest Park plans an all-day event on 18 October for an overhaul of the park, starting at 7am with a bird watch walk.

Teams are asked to bring along a black plastic bag to help with the annual clean-up of the park.

From 10am to noon, the team will be changing the lock to the members gate and you are asked to bring along your membership donation and receive your new key.

”Previously, we built a wheelchair path, leading from the Ann Harding Cheshire Home to the park entrance. And, we are working very closely with the Honeydew SAPS, JMPD, park wardens and a security company to reduce crime in the park,” says Pippa Wepener of Friends of Golden Harvest.

2014 Miss Earth South Africa Ilzé Saunders will be attending the event of unveiling the bridge built between the park and Anne Harding Cheshire Home entrance.

Wepener comments, “Having Miss Earth at our clean-up day, opening of bridge, birding, tree planting [event] … will be amazing as it will show that we do have support from the people who are spending their lives, trying to make a difference. Hopefully, it will encourage people and companies to donate toward our initiatives, which, if we don’t succeed, will see out glorious ‘Green Lung’ turned into an amusement park and all the wild vegetation destroyed and our wildlife killed off.”

Friends of Golden Harvest offer this day as a time to socialise and enjoy your park.

So bring along a braai or a picnic for the family and spend the day with the team.

If there are any interested parties that would like to host an art exhibition please follow the contact details below.

Children are welcome to come along and have a game of cricket or soccer as well as any dog walkers.
