Sunflower Fund encourages the public to support National Bandana Day on 12 October.

Bandana Day is one of the biggest awareness and fundraising projects of the fund.

The purpose of Sunflower Fund is to build the South African Bone Marrow Registry so that patients diagnosed with life-threaning blood disorders can find donor matches as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

“We all have hopes and dreams. By purchasing a bandana for R25, you could make a difference and offer those fighting leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders a chance of a future,” states Tarryn Corlett, CEO of The Sunflower Fund.

The Sunflower Fund encourages the public to buy a bandana from their nearest Pick n Pay or local Round Table and to wear it to show their support toward the brave fight that these patients face on a daily basis when they lose their hair from their chemotherapy treatments.

Funds raised through National Bandana Day go toward paying for the expensive tissue typing (DNA) tests for new donors to join The South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).

The Sunflower Fund relies heavily on this fundraiser to continue testing donors to help patients suffering from leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders, who require a bone marrow transplant in order to survive and live a longer and healthier life.

“Please support this campaign and help make a difference as together, we can save more lives and we cannot do this without your support,” implores Corlett.
