Randburg resident makes it to beauty product finals

The Dawn Day Spa competition announced three finalists out of 100 000 entries.

Nosipho Vukeka is representing Johannesburg.

Vukeka entered the competion by simply smsing the barcode of a Dawn body lotion product.

When Randburg resident Vukeka got the call in September announcing her as a finalist, she exclaimed, “I couldn’t believe it was real; I had to be reassured that it wasn’t a joke.”

Vukeka has won a beauty course that will assist her with skills that are integral to work in a beauty salon.

The top performing finalist will be selected as the ultimate winner of the Dawn Day Spa beauty business and will walk away with the main prize of over R200 000, including the entire mobile spa plus free business support for a year.

Lucky for Vukeka as she has worked in the beauty industry most of her life.

She studied somatology at Tshwane University of Technology for three years.

After her studies she went to work in Brooklyn as a therapist in facials, massages, slimming treatments, and part-time manager.

In 2012 Vukeka travelled the world, working on a cruise ship as a beauty therapist, visiting places such as the Caribbean Islands and Vancouvre.

Currently working at a Medi-spa in Parktown, and mother of three little daughters, Vukeka is very busy with her family and career.

“This is a great opportunity for someone like me to get such great assistance in running my own business.”

The confident Vukeka suggests, “If and when I win, I will take the business to my hometown in Newcastle, to expose the African women in the community to a variety of beauty treatments, something that lacks in that area. ”
