Sarahann Doherty started her career as a child actor.

She started out with commercials, the biggest being a Royco commercial when she was 13 years old.

She went on to present programmes on SABC as a children’s host and also presented Mini TV after that.

She attended primary and high school in Boksburg and went on to study acting at Stellenbosch. She furthered her studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and at UCLA in Los Angeles.

While in the States, she took part in a few short independent films and lifetime television shows.

She also produced and starred in various plays in both New York and Los Angeles.

After returning to South Africa, Sarahann started in children’s theatre at the People’s Theatre and then transitioned to musical theatre.

She took part in the Sound of Music at the State Theatre with Deon Opperman; appeared in a few commercials and had a presenting role on X on MK89.

Sarahann then went on to take the part of Dr Terry on Isidingo and after that Roelien in local soapie, Binnelanders.

She has also had roles in various other South African television programmes such as Getroud met Rugby, Room 9 and Donkerland.

Her most recent television job is on OpenView HD channel ASTV where she is the presenter for lifestyle programme, In Die Kollig, which airs every Tuesday evening at 8pm.

She now owns and is actively busy teaching at The Playhouse, which has been her passion since completing her studies.

The Playhouse is one of the best drama acting accredited schools in South Africa.

The company trains actors methods to become professionals in the industry.
