When two decades collide at the Barnyard

CRESTA- 80s vs 90s is a fun, musical roller coaster that revives songs from both decades, with two hilarious hosts; each fanatical about their favourite era.

Eighties and Nineties Pop Culture is rampant in our lives today, but when it comes to music – which decade rocked our world the most?

80s vs 90s is a fun look at both decades and a musical roller coaster for the audience. The talented cast revives songs from both decades, together with two hilarious hosts who are each fanatical about their favourite era.

The ’80s saw the emergence of new wave and electronic pop, the ’90s experienced grunge and hip-hop music while rock music remained popular in both decades.

The show will start off with male versus female pop stars. How will Depêche Mode take on MC Hammer and will Frankie Goes to Hollywood beat Dr Alban? Belinda Carlisle will have you singing along with Heaven is a Place on Earth as she takes on Alanis Morissette’s catchy tunes like You Oughta Know and Hand in My Pocket.

The show will then move on to the one-hit wonders with ’80s hits like I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight, 99 Red Balloons, I Don’t Like Mondays and Come on Eileen, taking on the ’90s with One of Us, Ice Ice Baby and The One and Only.

An advantage that the ’90s have is the mega ballads that ruled the airwaves, such as Hero by Mariah Carey, I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston, Always by Bon Jovi and Everything I Do by Bryan Adams. The ’80s strike back with Don’t Stop Believing by Journey, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler and Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.

The competition gets hotter when the show challenges songs from the movies with everything from Dirty Dancing, Footloose and Danger Zone from the ’80s, to Men in Black, Circle of Life and Gangsta’s Paradise from the ’90s.

After flirting with girl and boy bands such as Bananarama, taking on the Spice Girls and Boyz II Men, the show will head for an all-out icon showdown. How will the icons from the ’70s, who made it big in the ’80s, take on the icons from the ’80,s who made it big in the ’90s? Will Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones match up to Bruce Springsteen, and how will Cher and Diana Ross shape up against Madonna and Tina Turner? Will Billy Ocean stand up to Michael Jackson, and what about Alice Cooper against Axl Rose?

This show is a never-ending juke box that promises to take the audience on a ride through two decades of nonstop hits.

Show starts on 14 October to 31 December at Cresta Barnyard.
