Man accused of stabbing his wife appears in court

KENSINGTON B – Case of man accused of stabbing his wife 50 times continues.

The man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Bryanston will be back in Randburg Magistrates’ Court this morning at 9am.

Although the man’s identity is known to Randburg Sun, it cannot be released until he has pleaded on public record.

The case was postponed to 30 September for further investigation and also to allow the defendant to undergo a 30-day mental assessment before he would be allowed to plead. He has remained in custody in order to find a medical institution to facilitate his mental assessment, details of which will be revealed during the trial.

The accused’s wife was found bleeding to death from multiple stab wounds in Bryanston on 16 August and allegedly implicated her husband in her dying moments.

The accused was then arrested in Pietermaritzburg three days later after attempting to commit suicide by overdosing on an unknown substance.
