Wondering what to do this weekend? No worries, here is a list of interesting events you can look forward to attending in Johannesburg.

1. A Night with Black Coffee

The King of Decks, Black Coffee will be in Braamfontein on 27 September to celebrate 20 years of musical freedom from 7pm. The show will mark the beginning of the A Night with Black Coffee National Tour. Black Coffee will not be alone, he will be accompanied by Mzansi’s finest artists. Line-up: Black Coffee, Thandiswa Mazwai, Soulstar, Alexander James, Tumelo, Cara and Mondli. Tickets are available online from Webtickickets for R200.

2. Fifth annual all-weekend Vaal beach party

The annual Vaal beach party is finally here – join the party lovers at Dickson Park on 27 September from 12pm. Bring your beach towels, umbrellas, sun glasses and cooler boxes. Line-up includes: Black Coffee, Mo Flava, DJ Somebody, Euphonik, Uhuru, Andy X, Khuli Chana, Just Mo, Bujy, Ifani, Cassper Nyovest and plenty more to keep you entertained.

3. Carfax in the Street

Russia’s Moonbeam will finally be performing in Johannesburg on 27 September at 6pm at the Newtown Street. The electronic duo will be performing their written house, techno, trance, dubstep and minimal tracks. Line-up: Moonbeam.

4. Standard Bank Joy of Jazz 2014

Are you a jazz lover? Sandton Convention Centre is the place to be. Enjoy an annual indoor jazz concert taking place over three nights from 25 until 27 September.

The line-up boasts both local and international artists.

5. Taste of Joburg

Pick n Pay Taste of Joburg is back at Montecasino outdoor event area from 25 until 28 September. Come and enjoy a feast of the senses with top chefs from 12 of Johannesburg’s fine restaurants as they fashion special menus of starter-sized dishes for the occasion, including signature dishes with a wide range of fine wines to complement the balance of flavours.

6. Joburg festival of beer

Beer fanatics will be delighted to know that Pirates Sports Club in Greenside is hosting a beer festival on 27 until 28 September.

Last year, the beer festival was a huge success and this year it promises to celebrate all things beer in fine style – beer lovers can look forward to hundreds of local and imported beer brands. A play area for the little ones will be available and also home-brewing demonstrations, beer tours as well as great live entertainment. Tickets available online from Ticketboy for R150.

7. Go party featuring Beach Party

Join all the cool cats in Johannesburg at the Odd Café in Greenside on 26 September for an intimate music session – paired with an electrifying line-up which the team believes you will enjoy. Line-up: Gangsterdam, The Moths, Beach Party and Hello Beautiful. R60 gets you in.

8. Jozi Book Fair

Do you enjoy reading and writing? Join the Central Johanneburg College, Ellis Park Campus from 26 until 27 September for the much- anticipated Jozi Book Fair.

You will also have an opportunity to meet the legendary poet, novelist and playwright Zakes Mda and also youngsters who will be launching their own books.

The Jozi Book Fair has something of interest for everyone, which includes a school’s programme on 26 September and a children’s programme on 27 September. The fair will also give you an opportunity to interact with your favourite authors.
