WATCH: Cell phone thief caught on camera
STRIJDOM PARK – Man steals shop owners cell phone from under the counter.
A man brazenly walked into the Aurora Soap Shop in Strijdom Park on 11 September at around 11am and stole a brand new cell phone.
Shop owner Berdine De-Jager said the man was well dressed and he claimed he was there to collect his order. The robber obviously had no order. In an effort to please the customer De-Jager and her sales staff frantically rushed to complete his request. “While he was rushing us to create his order, he asked me to make a phone call to suppliers (with the cell phone).”
The suspect then saw she had placed her cell phone under the counter. While talking on his own cell phone he proceeded to hastily lean over the counter and steal De-Jagers’ cell phone. The entire scene was caught on her stores CCTV footage and a case has been opened with the Linden Police Station. De-Jager would like to warn all other business owners in the area.\
The Randburg Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johannes Maja commented 25 Septmber, “The case has been moved to the Randburg Police Station and as it is a new case investigation is under way.”
