Become eloquent with Wordspinners

NORTH RIDING – Wordspinners boots your confidence and public speaking skills.

If you want to speak well, start attending Wordspinners meetings.

Wordspinners is a group of people who meet once per month in North Riding, to improve their spoken communication.

Speeches and debates are held in a cordial fashion as oral articulations are evaluated to advance members’ eloquence and confidence, while upholding wholesome rhetoric.

“I was very shy and this changed me,” said Dorothy Markantonis.

She said that Worspinners meetings have helped her grow as a person, and now she can speak to large groups of people.

Jenny Wagner is also a member of the group.

She explained that members must often research topics they are unfamiliar with, to present speeches at theme-based meetings.

Events that changed the world, stem cell research and the court system are such topics.

“The platform is among friends so when you communicate to a wider field it is easier to speak,” Wagner said. “It helps boost your confidence, and helps you deal with people, speak in a good format and keep interest. You become a better communicator.”

The group meets at The National Centre Girl Guide Association, in Boundary Road.

Most meetings cost R25, and include tea, but the next meeting at 9am on 9 October is free if you RSVP to Jenny Wagner, because the group was founded in October 22 years ago.

Details: Jenny Wagner 083 285 0833.
