Randburg crowned league champions

RANDBURG - Randburg Top Bet were crowned champions at their final league game.

Randburg’s Top Bet team were crowned the Eastern League Football Association (ELFA) league champions on 11 September at the Randburg Sports Club.

After a grueling league season, Randburg’s Top Bet team won the ELFA super league 1 and ELFA super league 1 reserves.

During their league season, Randburg played 20 games, won 14 and only drew six and the reserve team played 20 games, won 16, drew three and lost one

On the last game of the league, Randburg and Uniao played to a thrilling 3–3 draw in a hard-fought league game. The game was a battle of the giants. During the first half, Uniao led the game with 3–0. However, Randburg came back with guns blazing, they managed to score a resounding three goals, equalising with the visitors.

“I am very proud of the team, they have put so much time into the game and they really worked hard.”

The reserve team won 2–1 in their final league game.

Richard Walker shared that next year they hope to knuckle down and work hard and also try to defend their league titles.

He added, “They all know what they have to do when they are on the field; I can pick the teams but once they are out there playing it’s up to them and they have all bought into that,” concluded Walker.

The Top Bet team will also play at the cup final on 20 September at the Italian Club In Bedforview at 3pm.
